pH Testing steps

In order to have full confidence in your pH testing results, make sure you use a procedure that minimizes potential errors.

First, decided what measurement method you are going to use. If you choose the most accurate and reliable method, the pH electrode method, consider the following points before you start your measurement:


• Select a pH sensor that is suitable for the current pH and temperature range and the media to be measured. Your pH measurement reliability depends highly on your choice of electrode.


Proper storage will extend the life of your pH electrode and maximize its performance. However, electrode aging and coating will have a negative impact on the performance of your pH electrode.


• Pick an appropriate pH meter for your measurements. A recommendation is to use a pH meter with automatic temperature compensation (ATC).


• A correct completed pH calibration is essential to perform an accurate measurement. Handle your pH buffer solutions with care. Use traceable buffers to guarantee the reliability of your measurements.
